N.Y.C Color Banana Split Review and Swatches (Old Post)

Okay, so because it's summer, I thought I'd do my first review on a bright colour! This colour is so bright, I actually didn't know if I liked it at first! This colour is N.Y.C colour ' Banana Split' , and I don't actually think its in a collection, as I have only started seeing this brand since about half way through last year. I was surprised at the quality of these polishes because they are so cheap, I thought they wouldn't be good at all. However, I'm actually very impressed! This is the second colour i've tried from this brand, and I'm pretty happy about it!

You know what would be great this summer? Eating bananas, banana splits, banana smoothies, banana milkshakes, even banana flavoured ice cream, all through the summer, but if you can't do that, I'd say wearing it would be almost as good! So, even if wearing this bright , 'banana-ry' colour does make you hungry, if you like super bright colours, this is worth it!

N.Y.C Color Review:

Colour
This colour is, such a bright yellow, and as the name suggests, it actually reminds me of a banana! At first , I didn't really like this colour, but I think I got a bit used to it after a while. I just don't think I would wear bright yellow on my nails for many occasions!

Last night was my Dad's graduation party, so we had tonnes of people there, but I remember getting a comment from one lady who said that I was brave to wear such a bright colour!
Usually if I was looking for a new colour, I don't think that I would have picked one like this! Unless I needed a super bright yellow for a tutorial that I was doing!

Finish
There isn't really anything super special about the finish, as its just a creme polish. But it does have a nice finish, it looks good and I was impressed that it turned out exactly the same as the colour that it was in the bottle.

Application and Formula
The formula for this polish isn't too bad, actually it's quite good for the price! The only downside is that it's a bit thick and gloopy, so its a little hard to get a good smooth coat. Its definitely a two coat polish, you could maybe do a three, but I think that would just add to the thickness on your nail. Looking at it now, after the third day, it looks a little streaky still and bits have chipped off. I have only two perfect nails left, as i've taken all the chipped ones off. However that could be my topcoat! So i'm planning to try this polish with another top coat, to see how that works. Maybe even with a different top coat! (If you want to see an update with three coats and/or a different top coat, let me know in the comments below!)

Accessibility
This colour is very easy to find! I've found the N.Y.C brand in so many places, even a BP Petrol Station! But I haven't actually been looking for this exact colour, so I don't know if that would be as easy, but the brand is defiantly everywhere, from about $1 - $2.50 at the maximum.

Pros:
  • Its VERY cheap
  • Its easy to find
Cons:

  • Gloopy
  • Long-ish Drying time
Final Thoughts
6/10: I think this is an alright colour, if you don't mind waiting for it to dry a while, but I am a little impatient, so the colours I usually use are the quick drying ones, so its just a little different for me.
It might be worth trying this colour, especially if like like bright uncommon ones, that are super cheap! This polish is such good value for it's money. I don't think I would buy it again, but I am definitely going to try a lot more polishes from this brand!

Dotting Tools and Detail Brushes (Old Post)

I've noticed a lot of people commenting on Youtube videos asking where to get detail brushes and dotting tools, so I thought I might help some of you out! I ordered mine from a really lovely website which is www.meliney.com . This website is run by none other than the awesome +Meliney who you have probably all heard of on her Youtube channel! I love my dotting tools and detail brushes a huge amount! Plus the order came incredibly quickly. On the website it says that orders within Australia should arrive in 3-5 working days after the order. Usually my mail arrives really slowly so I expect there to be a few extra days than the time the websites say, however this order came in exactly three days! I was super impressed!

The products I ordered were the 3pcs Detail Brush Set (Print) (Click on the name for link). And these were only $4.99. Very good quality.
I also ordered the Dotting Tools (Purple) (Click on the name for link). These come with five double ended dotting tools and a wide variety of sizes! They were purchased for $5.99.
